Black Pearl collection

Jewelry Design

April 2024

The Black Pearl jewelry collection is a poignant tribute to the humpback whale, drawing inspiration from the intricate patterns of its scalp. Each piece serves as a wearable reminder of the delicate balance of marine life and the urgent need for its preservation. These designs, with their fine, ethereal lines and the incorporation of negative space that echoes the empty spaces and holes of the whale’s skeletal structure, speak to the fragility of these magnificent creatures and the importance of advocating for their survival. More than adornment, each unique piece is a call to action, a statement of solidarity in the effort to protect our oceans and their inhabitants.

Spinning stool

Collectible

November 2024

Inspired by the joyous leaps of dolphins breaking the water’s surface, the Spinning Dolphin Table captures the inherent playfulness and kinetic beauty of these creatures. The design, born from a study of their dynamic forms, translates their fluid motion into a versatile piece that encourages interaction.
More than just a table or a stool, the Spinning Dolphin Table invites engagement. Its design allows for varied uses – a small tabletop, a unique seat – and encourages users to explore different orientations. Thoughtful additions like optional leg rests further enhance its adaptability. This piece embodies the playful spirit of dolphins, bringing a touch of marine joy and interactive fun to any environment.

Div movement

Installation and Performance

March 2022

DIV is an art project that challenges societal norms and expectations placed on women. Through the DIV project. I aim to showcase women as warriors who fight against societal boundaries to protect their freedom. This fight is often internal and manifests in the form of physical battles that take place within a woman’s mind and body. The project features the growth of a horn, symbolizing the monstrous creatures within Persian mythology called DIV, on the head of a woman as she battles for her rights and freedoms. DIV is a message of hope, a reminder that together we can create a world where women are free to be warriors, protectors, and leaders.

Black hole

Interactive sculpture

August 2021

“Black Hole” invites viewers to explore the hidden world within trees, prompting a deeper appreciation for these vital members of our ecosystem. Created from a section of a tree salvaged from government-cleared land, this piece carries a message of conservation and understanding. The wood, bearing a natural scar, serves as a reminder of the impact of human intervention. Highly polished brass surfaces have been meticulously inlaid, creating a striking contrast with the organic texture of the wood.

A dusting of brass powder nestled within the central cavity evokes a sense of mystery and an “internal world” within the tree. This interactive element encourages a dialogue between the audience and the tree; by gently blowing into the opening, viewers can shift the brass powder, creating dynamic reflections and engaging with the tree’s “inner life.” “Black Hole” seeks to amplify the silent stories of trees, revealing their inherent beauty and complexity, and ultimately advocating for their preservation.

time cubes

Interactive sculptures

August 2020

“Time Cubes” explores the cyclical nature of emotional experience – the wounding and healing of the soul – and the maturity that emerges from this process. Two concrete cubes, one textured to represent “wound” and the other “healing,” are presented as interactive elements within the exhibition space. The weight of the cubes necessitates a physical engagement from the audience, transforming them into active participants. As visitors rearrange the cubes, their movements become a performative expression of their personal relationship with these concepts. The act of lifting, carrying, and positioning these heavy blocks reflects the effort and intention involved in confronting and processing emotional wounds. The varying arrangements chosen by each individual reveal a unique narrative of acceptance, denial, or the selective embrace of healing. This interactive experience offers a powerful reflection on the emotional journeys we undertake, inviting contemplation on the passage of time and the transformative power of both pain and recovery. While originally conceived for an indoor gallery setting, the core themes of “Time Cubes”—emotional resilience, the weight of experience, and the passage of time—resonate deeply with the natural world and the cyclical processes of growth and decay. The use of concrete, a material both robust and elemental, further emphasizes the enduring nature of these emotional cycles within the human experience and their connection to the enduring presence of the natural world.

AAn light collection

Light Design

August 2019

Aan is a collection of uniquely handmade lighting objects, where the principles of architecture and the artistry of sculpture converge. This project emerged from an intensive nine-month exploration of design, culminating in the intricate transformation of the shamseh (hexagon) from concept to tangible three-dimensional form. Each piece in the Aan collection is a direct expression of personal craftsmanship. From the meticulous crafting of the joints to the final weld, every stage of fabrication has been executed by hand, ensuring unparalleled attention to detail. This dedication aims to portray the rich cultural heritage of Islamic architecture and art within a glamorous and visually captivating aesthetic, seamlessly integrating these timeless geometric patterns into our contemporary spaces. The inspiration for Aan arose from a profound experience within the Nasir al-Mulk Mosque in Shiraz, Iran. The breathtaking interplay of light and shadow dancing across the mosque’s geometric windows sparked a desire to recreate this enchanting effect within a functional object. The challenge of translating these intricate designs and mesmerizing shadows became a personal journey, pushing the boundaries of creativity and technical skill. Aan stands as a testament to the power of individual craftsmanship to preserve and reimagine Islamic heritage, offering unique pieces that illuminate both our physical spaces and our connection to timeless artistic traditions.
