AAn light collection
Light Design
August 2019
Aan is a collection of uniquely handmade lighting objects, where the principles of architecture and the artistry of sculpture converge. This project emerged from an intensive nine-month exploration of design, culminating in the intricate transformation of the shamseh (hexagon) from concept to tangible three-dimensional form.
Each piece in the Aan collection is a direct expression of personal craftsmanship. From the meticulous crafting of the joints to the final weld, every stage of fabrication has been executed by hand, ensuring unparalleled attention to detail. This dedication aims to portray the rich cultural heritage of Islamic architecture and art within a glamorous and visually captivating aesthetic, seamlessly integrating these timeless geometric patterns into our contemporary spaces.
The inspiration for Aan arose from a profound experience within the Nasir al-Mulk Mosque in Shiraz, Iran. The breathtaking interplay of light and shadow dancing across the mosque’s geometric windows sparked a desire to recreate this enchanting effect within a functional object. The challenge of translating these intricate designs and mesmerizing shadows became a personal journey, pushing the boundaries of creativity and technical skill. Aan stands as a testament to the power of individual craftsmanship to preserve and reimagine Islamic heritage, offering unique pieces that illuminate both our physical spaces and our connection to timeless artistic traditions.

Fanoos
Fanoos, a distinguished floor lamp within the Aan collection, embodies the seamless fusion of architectural precision and sculptural artistry. Designed as a portable beacon of light, Fanoos transcends its functional purpose, transforming interiors through an enchanting interplay of light and shadow.
Inspired by the intricate geometry of Islamic art, Fanoos projects a captivating array of geometric shadows, painting surfaces with an ethereal and dynamic visual narrative. The design emphasizes portability, allowing the user to effortlessly redefine the ambiance of any space.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the joints of Fanoos are ingeniously interlocked, resulting in a visually seamless structure with minimal visible welding. This construction not only highlights the purity of the geometric form but also underscores the dedication to refined craftsmanship inherent in the Aan collection. Fanoos stands as a testament to the power of light and shadow in creating immersive and evocative interior impressions.

Mash’al
Mash’al, a distinguished wall-mounted luminaire within the Aan collection, serves as an elegant testament to the enduring beauty of sacred geometry. Its delicate lines and meticulously considered wall joints are designed to uphold the inherent harmony of the shamseh, offering a visually soothing presence to any space.
Each Mash’al is crafted with an unwavering commitment to detail, ensuring that the transition from the fixture to the wall is seamless and visually refined. The unique joint design of Mash’al distinguishes it within the Aan collection, a testament to the individuality of each piece. In fact, the distinct joint design found in each creation across the Aan collection remains exclusive to that particular object, ensuring a unique character for every luminaire.
Mash’al not only provides illumination but also acts as a subtle yet impactful sculptural element, bringing the timeless elegance of Islamic geometric patterns to vertical surfaces. It embodies the Aan collection’s dedication to integrating diverse design elements into cohesive and remarkable forms.
